I want to tell you a story……

A few really awesome middle school kids came together to create a really awesome play over the summer.  A few amazing professional actors in Atlanta brought their story to life.  The twist?  Some very familiar characters from a childhood favorite tale of Alice in Wonderland can be seen during this show.

Alice Between will have audiences on their feet (literally) and laughing in their seats.  If you have middle school kids this is a MUST see play, as they will fully relate to the characters in this show.  I would say this show is intended for all audiences because I assure you as a parent I was just as tickled as my sixth-grade daughter.  This show by Neeley Gosset and Steve Coulter (in collaboration with the Alliance Theatre middle school students) is sure to be a fan favorite for years to come.  This tale of fantasy, reality and middle school woes collide in a way only the Alliance Theatre can bring to life.

Playwright Neeley Gossett (Alliance/Kendeda National Graduate Playwriting Competition finalist) and Actor/Playwright Steve Coulter (Edward Foote) have teamed up with Alliance Theatre Artistic Director of Theatre for Youth and Families Rosemary Newcott to develop this year’s new play for middle school audiences – Alice BetweenAlice Between will tour to Atlanta area middle schools for several weeks and will have five public performances in the Rich Theatre at the Woodruff Arts Center, November 12 – 19, 2017.

In the beloved children’s novel Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Alice finds herself in a world full of strange and wondrous incongruities …much like what the world is like for most middle school students! This modern take on the story finds Alice on her first day as a 7th grader in a new middle school. Gossett and Coulter are able to tap into a dark humor that is especially satisfying and very connected to the nightmare and folly that is both Wonderland and Middle School.

Alice Between features a talented local cast including – Ashley Anderson as Alice, Lauren Boyd as Tory, Anthony Campbell as Hatter, Joseph Pendergrast as Cheshire, and Michelle Pokopac as Caty.  The creative team includes Set Designer Seamus M. Bourne, Costume Designer Jeff Cone, and Sound Designer/Composer Ed Thrower.
